PepsiCo online catalog

UXUIDesignEcommerceSupport
PepsiCo Ukraine is the local division of one of the world's largest food and beverage conglomerates, managing a portfolio of 18 brands across the country: from Pepsi, 7Up, and Mirinda to Sandora, Lay's, Cheetos, Agusha, and Slovianochka. Dozens of categories, hundreds of SKUs, thousands of trade partners nationwide. Distributors, retail chains, and HoReCa operators need access to up-to-date product information: packaging photos, GTIN codes, specifications, and brand logos in various formats. Previously, these requests were handled manually by managers. PepsiCo needed a unified digital platform where any partner can independently find the right product, download assets, and build a selection - while a manager updates the entire catalog with a single file upload.
Task
Develop a Yii2-based ecommerce product catalog for PepsiCo Ukraine with full-text search, multi-level filtering, and downloadable product assets in multiple formats. Implement a mega menu with category hierarchy, product cards with GTIN codes and pack-size multiplier badges, detail pages with image galleries and specification accordions, a favorites system with batch download, a brand logo book with vector and raster download options, and a recently viewed products carousel. Build an admin panel with XLS import and export for large-scale catalog synchronization with the accounting system. Deliver a bilingual interface (UA/EN), responsive layouts, and Google Analytics integration.
What was done
  • Developed a Yii2 backend architected for a catalog of hundreds of SKUs across 18 brands and a dozen product categories, designed to scale without structural changes.
  • Implemented a mega menu with six root sections (Beverages, Juices, Snacks, Dairy, Baby Food, Logos) and nested subcategories with dropdown navigation: Beverages expands into Carbonated Drinks, Iced Tea, Mineral Water, and Juice.
  • Built the catalog homepage with a 3×3 category grid: each category features a full-color product photo with its name on a branded blue bar and a navigation button, providing instant portfolio overview.
  • Created a "Brands" section with a 6×3 grid of all 18 portfolio brand logos (Pepsi, Mirinda, 7Up, Evervess, Lipton, Aqua Minerale, Karpatska Dzherelna, Sandora, Sandora Frutz, Sadochok, Lay's, KhrusTeam, Cheetos, Agusha, Slovianochka) linking to a pre-filtered catalog view on click.
  • Implemented a category page with a sidebar filter panel: multi-select subcategory checkboxes, dropdown filters by brand and weight/volume, a grid/list view toggle, and a "Select all" checkbox for bulk operations.
  • Designed a product card with six information layers: packaging photo, pack-size multiplier badge (×4, ×6, ×12), brand name, product title with specs (volume, container type), GTIN barcode, and buttons for adding to favorites and individual asset download.
  • Built a product detail page with a carousel gallery and thumbnails, product title, "Download information" button, GTIN code, and a "Specifications" accordion with a parameter table (GTIN, name, brand, volume, packaging type).
  • Created a fully functional favorites system (wishlist) with a header counter, a dedicated "Favorites" page with the same display modes and filters, multi-select capability, and a batch download button that packages selected product assets into a single archive.
  • Developed a "Logos" section serving as a complete brand logo book: a grid of logos in multiple versions (color, monochrome, inverted) with a contextual dropdown menu offering download in "All formats," "Vector image" (SVG/AI), or "Raster image" (PNG/JPG).
  • Built a "Recently viewed products" carousel with horizontal scrolling and arrow navigation, displayed on category and favorites pages for quick access to previously browsed items.
  • Implemented full-text search with autocomplete across the entire catalog: by product name, brand, and GTIN code with instant results.
  • Built an admin panel with large-scale XLS import: the parser processes thousands of rows containing names, specifications, GTIN codes, and category/brand mappings, updating the catalog without manual entry. Implemented reverse XLS export of current site data back to the manager's accounting system format.
  • Connected Google Analytics with custom event tracking: category views, product clicks, favorites additions, and asset/logo downloads for partner behavior analysis.
  • Delivered a bilingual interface (UA/EN) with a header toggle for both domestic and international partners.
  • Built responsive layouts with a dedicated mobile version: two-column category grid, burger menu with full navigation, optimized product cards, and swipe gallery on detail pages.
Result
With digital agency Adcore, PepsiCo Ukraine replaced manual partner request handling with a unified self-service catalog platform. A distributor finds the right SKU in seconds using filters or GTIN search, downloads packaging photos and specs, builds a selection in favorites, and exports assets as a single archive. The logo book provides instant access to all 18 brand logos in any format. A PepsiCo manager updates the entire catalog with a single XLS upload - and the changes go live immediately.
