Silpo food education
Foodprosvita is an educational initiative by Silpo, Ukraine's largest supermarket chain, that teaches entrepreneurs how to launch food brands from scratch and get them onto retail shelves. The
program offers multiple formats: six-week semesters with six modules, one-day meetups with industry experts, and a grant fund. The project needed a digital platform capable of presenting the curriculum, selling course
seats, showcasing real graduate success stories, and serving as a full-scale marketing tool to attract new participants.
Task
Execute the full platform creation cycle: prototyping, UX/UI design, and development on Yii2. The site must include a course catalog with dates and formats, an online seat purchase system integrated with
Silpo's booking and payment platform, sections for instructors, the grant fund, partners, and graduates, video lecture content, and FAQ. Build a CMS that allows the project manager to independently update schedules, add
new cohorts, and manage all content without developer involvement.
What was done
- Prototyped all key pages with detailed user journey mapping: from discovering the program to purchasing a full course or individual module.
- Developed a visual concept in the project's brand colors (pink, blue, coral) with an emphasis on candid photography and typography that establishes a friendly, approachable tone of voice.
- Designed the homepage with a hero block, an upcoming events section (semesters and meetups with start dates), and a positioning statement about launching food production from zero to Silpo shelves.
- Created a course catalog with cards featuring the learning format (online + offline), module count, dates, and a "Buy" CTA for each cohort.
- Integrated with Silpo's platform for course booking and payment: upon purchase, participants receive an email confirmation with training details.
- Developed an instructors section with portrait photography, titles, and expertise descriptions for each speaker.
- Built a "Graduates who became Lavka Tradytsiy producers" carousel with real success stories to establish credibility.
- Designed a grant fund block with eligibility details and a "Write a letter" CTA for applying for a free scholarship.
- Built a course page with a video lecture, a six-module program breakdown, dual CTAs ("Buy" / "Course program"), and a partner block (UNHCR, USAID, Made in Ukraine).
- Added a conversion block offering free access to one lecture in exchange for contact details for lead generation.
- Developed a "What Foodprosvita offers" section with numbered benefits (practical skills, flexible format, modular program) and an FAQ accordion.
- Built the backend on Yii2 with a CMS for independent content management: course schedules, cohorts, instructors, graduates, and news.
- Configured application mirroring to Google Drive as a backup layer to prevent data loss.
- Connected Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel for conversion tracking across individual courses and meetups.
- Delivered responsive layouts with a dedicated mobile approach: benefit cards, simplified navigation, and optimized forms.
