HILTI

UXUIDesignWeb
HILTI is a global manufacturer of professional construction tools and fastening systems with over 80 years of expertise. The brand's product lineup spans thousands of items: from rotary hammers and cordless platforms to construction exoskeletons and tool fleet management services. The core challenge was presenting this volume of information so that an engineer on a job site finds the right tool in seconds, while a procurement manager gets the full technical specification needed to make a decision.
Task
Develop a design concept for the HILTI corporate website with a focus on the B2B construction audience. Solve the navigation challenge across a massive catalog through smart search with contextual filters. Include innovation sections (exoskeletons, Equipment as a Service), a Fleet Management service portal, a customer reviews block, a content hub with industry articles, and a bilingual interface (UA/EN). Ensure the mobile version is optimized for use directly on construction sites.
What was done
  • Designed the information architecture around a complex product hierarchy: categories by tool type, application area, and platform.
  • Developed the central UX element: a smart search bar with contextual filters (tool type, application) and a popular queries block for quick access.
  • Created a hero section with a full-bleed construction site photograph that immediately immerses the user in the brand's industrial context.
  • Designed product cards with a rating system, review counts, and a purchase CTA button to drive conversion.
  • Developed the "Exoskeleton & Human Augmentation Systems" section with use-case visualizations: interior finishing, building construction, mechanical, and electrical work.
  • Designed the Fleet Management service portal: step-by-step guides, account management, e-contracting, and tool theft/loss reporting.
  • Created a "Discover our digital services" block showcasing the brand's digital offerings: delivery tracking, invoice downloads, and repair management.
  • Developed the "About HILTI" section featuring archival photography and a prominent 83-year heritage badge.
  • Designed a "What's next in construction" content hub with industry articles: Big Data, Equipment as a Service, and safer working through technology.
  • Built a review carousel with avatars, star ratings, and review categories to establish social proof.
  • Adapted all sections for mobile with construction site context in mind: large tap targets, simplified navigation, and horizontal card scrolling.
Result
With digital agency Adcore, HILTI received a design concept that tackles the central challenge of a B2B website with a massive catalog: making complexity feel simple. Smart search with filters shortens the path from query to the right tool, the Fleet Management portal digitizes equipment fleet operations, and innovation sections featuring exoskeletons and EAAS position the brand as a technology leader in the industry. The mobile experience is built for real-world conditions: a construction site, limited time, and the need for immediate results.
