Water Delivery App
Blue Ocean is a drinking water delivery service in the UAE: 19.5L bottles, bottled water, pumps, and equipment. The specifics of the water delivery market: it's a recurring-need product, with customers ordering the same water every week, so the app was built around fast reordering rather than long browsing.
Task
Develop a mobile water delivery app for the UAE market with the shortest possible path to an order: phone number authentication with no passwords, ordering in a few taps, and automatic reminders when the water runs low. Orders had to flow directly into the company's POS system.
What was done
- Developed an iOS and Android app with a category-based catalog: water in large bottles, bottles with a holder, bottled water, and equipment.
- Implemented phone number authentication with an SMS code via SMSGlobal: no passwords, no registration forms.
- Integrated with the Foodics POS system: orders from the app go straight into the company's operations system, with products and prices in sync.
- Built fast reordering: order history with one-tap repeat of a previous order.
- Set up push notifications: order statuses, promotions, and repeat order reminders when it's time to restock water.
- Implemented detailed delivery addresses for apartment buildings: house, flat, floor, and elevator availability, which is critical for a courier carrying 19.5L bottles.
- Added promo banners, including a new customer promotion, and transactional SMS via SMSGlobal.
- Developed the backend and admin panel on Laravel: catalog, orders, delivery zones, and content.
